Peter Leslie Beales Early Life and Career
Peter Beales was born in Norfolk in 1936 and worked as a manager at Hillings Rose Nursery in Surrey. Under the guidance of legendary rosarian Graham Stuart Thomas who is also mentor of David Austin. He succeeded Thomas as foreman of roses.
Peter Beales Started Peter Beales Roses Ltd
Peter Beales’ passion lay at wild and classic breeds of roses, many of which he saved from extinction by collecting and breeding them. Over time of effort and commitment, Peter Beales Roses Ltd from a family-run nursery grew to become a major rose specialist center. They are retailing 1200 varieties of rose from both their in house and other great breeders.
Peter Beales Industry Involvement and Awards
Peter Beales first joining RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 1971 and he received 19 gold medals during his career. Besides that he also received Lawrence Medal in 1997 and 2007 for the best exhibit at any RHS show.
Peter Beales Publishing and Lecturing
Peter Beales first publish is a pamphlets in 1970s. First major publish is Classic Roses in 1985, then Twentieth-Century Roses in 1988, Roses in 1992, Visions of Roses in 1996, New Classic Roses in 1997, and A Passion for Roses in 2004.
